Welcome to the Lovett String Orchestra Pages!

This site, when completed, will offer a wide range of options. From this site, students with Internet access are able to pull up MIDI (sound) files of both their individual parts and full orchestra to help them in their home practice. Parents and students will be able to go to the schedule to double-check on when instruments, folders, and music need to be brought to school. Parents, students, and visiting teachers will be able to view a detailed explanation of how grades are determined in the Lovett String Orchestra Program. Later, Lovett string students and visitors will be able to access a section devoted to the enhancement of music reading skills and the better understanding of music theory - two areas that we frequently address in our program. They and visitors will be able to pull up a schedule of upcoming orchestra performances, assigned music for those events, and information about deadlines for passing qualification tests on that music. There also will be a publicity site for the Orchestra Program.
            We have an open-door policy as far as visitors to this site are concerned. No area has restricted access. Visitors, however, should note that the downloading of online printed parts and MIDI, or sound, files from the online practice partner is not permitted. In the years that this site has been operational, there have been no serious problems with visitors' misuse of it. Likewise, most members have observed the rule against downloading parts other than their own. If either situation should change, it could become necessary to have the practice partner password-protected. Visitors and orchestra members alike should note the comments concerning the downloading of copyrighted material from the practice partner and follow the guidelines carefully.
            Finally, the sections that currently are in preparation (green print) are not accessible. Clicking on their buttons will return the user to this page.
