Concept and
Functionality:
The third
version of CitiWeb was built to take advantage of dynamic HTML (JavaScript 1.2
and CSS) in Netscape 4.0, to align the site's look and feel more closely with
that of the Citibank Internet site, to improve the navigation system, and to
give users additional interface "preferences." Among the innovations
in this version were the dynamic HTML navigation system, the built-in "balloon"
help system, the "My CitiWeb" capability for designing personal
navigation lists, a scrolling stock info window, and close integration with a
customized version of Navigator 4.0 for Citibankers. The Oracle-based
SiteManager application was developed to automate processing of new sites, to
generate navigation lists based on information stored in the database, and to
enable the "My CitiWeb" options by storing and retrieving user
preferences in Oracle.
