Concept and
Functionality:
The second
version of CitiWeb was built to update the site's look and feel, to take
advantage of new capabilities in JavaScript 1.1 for Netscape 3.0, to enable a
more scalable navigation system, and to give users some interface "preferences"
options. Among the innovations in this version were the embedded search form
and dynamically updated stock price information on the home page. Following a
market evaluation, the search engine was upgraded to Verity Search'97 and remote
spider in March 1997. A popular new feature was added in June 1997--CitiWeb by
Subject, a database application that provided a subject-based "browsing"
navigation system.
