It's noted in the Strong Family Bible that George and Fred were twins,
but no birth date is given. If they were twins then there is a conflict with their estimated
birth dates. George died on 6 May 1896, supposedly at age 69 (giving an estimated birth date of
1827). According to the 1900 US Census for Gloucester Fred was born in March 1829.

Excerpts from James M. Strong's letter to his cousin Chester in 1935:
"Do you know anything about Uncle Samuels family. Father left Twillingate and came here a few years after your Father and Uncle Samuel left for Canada or the States" "... I think the oldine [oldest or earliest?] thing I remember is when Uncle Fred and Uncle Samuel left Twillingate. I do not know how old I was but I remember their having a joyful time at our house the night before leaving." "Do you know anything about Uncle Samuels family..." "...I often think and spake of when I was at your Fathers home in 1916. He put me so much in mind of my own Father. It seemed like home. He resembled in aperance and maner so much." "... But Familys do get scattered and in some cases very seldom hear from each other. How is Miss May. Think I have heard her name oftener then I have others of your Family..." "...Refering to your letter re seven children are these your own Family or do you mean Brothers and Sisters. Dont know that I have heard of only yourself and George and Miss May and Mrs. Colbourne..." |
