From the Twillingate Sun, October 26, 1883: "At Little Harbor, on the 22nd Oct., by Rev. F. R.
Duffill, ... Mr Joseph March, [married] to Miss Joanna Anstey, both of Purcell's Harbor."
Her tombstone in the United Church Cemetary at Little Bay Island says:
"At Rest
In loving memory of Joanna
Beloved wife of George Wiseman
Who died June 9, 1908, aged 44 years, 8 months
Dearest wife, beloved mother
Patient wife, a mother true
Resting now at peace with Jesus
Loving hearts remember you"
*Note - she was actually 43 years and 8 months when she died.
Joseph Marsh drowned when the schooner Blossom was lost
on September 15, 1891.
John H. Strong : "... her [Matilda's] widowed mother [Joanna] was unable to take
care of her [Matilda] when she [Joanna] went to Little Bay Island to work as a
housekeeper for George Wiseman, whom she [Joanna] later married."
George was the brother of Walter William Wiseman.
George WISEMAN of Philip & Catherine (CURTIS) was baptised September 7, 1856 at Little Bay Islands when he was 8 months old.
