John Burge Wells of Three Arms, kept a notebook in which he stated that the Wells' and Strongs
came from Ringwood, Hampshire,
England in 1793.
John Wells, a 25 year old bachelor from Three Arms, was married to Jane Oxford, a 20 year old spinster from Pilleys Island,
on December 13, 1893 in a Methodist ceremony. Jonas Newhook and Rebecca Wells were witnesses.
The 1921 Census for Three Arms says John was born May 1867 and Jane was born in August 1875.
Their headstone is on Three Arms island.
The headstone of Joseph and Elizabeth Oxford is on Three Arms island.

John B. Wells (age 67), his wife Jane Wells (age 61), and their daughters Bessie (age 27) and
Emma (age 21) are listed in the 1935 Newfoundland Census for Three Arms.
