STRONG, WILLIAM JOSEPH "BILL," 89, of Cape Cod, Mass., a winter resident of
St. Petersburg, died Monday (March 4, 2002) at Bon Secours-Maria Manor
Nursing Home of St. Petersburg. Born in Jackson's Cove, Newfoundland, he was
a winter resident here for 20 years from Cape Cod. He was chief of services
for the New York and Massachusetts departments of education, retiring in
1982. He was a member of the Congregational Church in West Yarmouth, Mass.,
and the Clock & Watch Association. Survivors include his wife of 59 years,
Evelyn; a son, Charles D., Belleair; two grandsons, Christopher Strong, St.
Petersburg, and Gregory Strong, Tallahassee; two sisters, Winifred Strong
and Nellie Strong, both of Canada; and three brothers, Ross, Jack and Roy
Strong, all of Canada. Anderson-McQueen Funeral Homes & Cremation Tribute
