His obituary (source unknown) :
Dear Greeting, Just a few lines to say that death has presently paid us a visit, and has taken from our ranks a dear brother in the person of William Strong. He was one who was highly esteemed by all who knew him, and we are also pleased to say that his home was always open to the Methodist minister whenever he came that way. His sickness, which was unto death, did not last but a few days, but the many friends who visited him and heard his dying testimony, felt confident that his feet were firmly fixed upon the Rock of Ages. The obsequies were largely attended by friends from Three Arms, South West Arm and Nipper's Harbour, and a very appropriate sermon was delivered by the Rev. W. J. Morris from the words, "There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God". He leaves a wife and five children to mourn their sad loss. To the bereaved we extend our deepest sympathy. The deceased died at Jackson's Cove December 19th, 1903. P. S. At the grave was sung the lines:            "At the margin of the river            Lay we every burden down            Grace our spirits will deliver            And provide a robe and crown". |

John H. Strong, Strong Family Anecdotes:
Solomon's son William Armstrong, residing at Jackson's Cove died of pneumonia while still in his forties and his oldest son, Charles, was left to support the family at about eighteen years of age. Her parents, Charles and Martha (Knight) Langdown of Jackson's Cove, gave Sarah and William a strip of land on each side of their estate. Sarah and William built a house and moved there about 1892. |
