Memphis was my first "repeat city" on the tour. I was first there in April of 2005, and we were there this year from May 29 through June 4. All of the entries below are from the more recent stay unless otherwise noted.

The Main Street area of Memphis is slowly evolving. Several new restaurants popped up since last year. In general, a lot of the smaller places along Main street close up by 3:00PM. Be sure to check hours otherwise you may not find dinner before a show, although there are more "chain" restaurants at Peabody Place Mall.

But don't make any dinner plans between your Sunday shows. That's when the Ushers host a pot-luck dinner for the cast and crew. Southern cooking - yum!

New office opened about a month before we were there. Open treatment areas, very nice and clean. Office assistant, Ashley.

I really liked the doctor. I went three times for adjustments. Still unclear if they are part of CIGNA or not, but an office visit is only $50.00. He is located just across the courthouse square from the Sleep Inn and SpringHill Suites, and down the street from the Doubletree, so I think it was worth it rather than taking a $20.00 cab ride to get to a CIGNA-covered office. I will just apply it to my deductible.

An alternate location for treatment, this is about 10-15 minutes from downtown. I saw Dr. Kellenberger last year (April 2005) and was going to go back before I heard about his partner in the downtown area. Several other cast members at the time also saw Dr. Kellenberger and had good experiences.

GREAT veterinarian for those of you who have pets on tour. Very friendly, very competent, and only a short drive from the theatre.

This is where I stayed both times in Memphis. Located about five or six blocks from the Orpheum Theatre. The Main Street Trolley runs right in front of the hotel. Breakfast is served daily. Decent, suite-style rooms, with small fridge, sink and microwave. The staff was nice, but not very knowledgeable about services in the area.

Owned by Tom and Sandy Franck - great people, a FANTASTIC place to stay while you're in Memphis. It's a splurge monetarily, but not too horrible - and WELL worth it. Funky decor, great big suites, charming design, full kitchens. . . 3 blocks from the Orpheum, 2 blocks from Beale Street, basically across the street from shopping and movie theatres. Perfect location if you're working at the theatre, and there is parking also available. I LOVED STAYING HERE.

I didn't eat here this year, but when we were in Memphis last April, this place was just opening. A little pricier than a few of the other places, but still reasonable. Was voted best new restaurant of 2005.

Another newish restaurant just a block and a half from the Orpheum. Nice menu, decent prices. I had an entire chicken dinner for only $16.00. It lasted me for two or three meals. Fun bar with an interesting martini menu.

Rachel's Salon & Day Spa
10 North Main Street
Memphis, TN 38103
Located on Main Street, just across from the SpringHill Suites. Don't be taken by the close location. While it's an Aveda affiliate, many of our cast had bad experiences here, particularly with waxing. I came away with a scab on my eyebrow.
