July 2006
Another nice week in Texas. Bass Hall was just lovely, although sound was a little bit of an issue at this venue. The
Sundance Square area around the Hall had loads of restaurants and shops. Try to take some time to explore there. Our housing
was not downtown, so I didn't spend as much time looking around as I would have liked. It was also really hot again, and the
last place I wanted to be was outside.
So, that being said, I don't have a ton of stuff to post for Fort Worth. But my castmates have come through with several
recommendations.
Pop culture lookout! The 70's sci-fi fave "Logan's Run" was filmed around Fort Worth. The water gardens which
are used in the film are in the Downtown area - although they are currently closed for renovation. And the Hulen mall is where
some of the city interior scenes were filmed.

Right across from Bass Hall. Several kinds of beer. Awesome atmosphere. A great place to chill out after the show. Live music!

A bit lower end than many Homestead Suites/Extended Stay America. Mostly small rooms, although I lucked out and got one at
an end of the hallway. This one is a two-story, motel-type with exterior entry only and no elevators to the second floor.
The rooms do have kitchenettes with burners, but they are not well stocked. All I had at first was one small pot. The location
was OK, near the zoo and the museum district, but it was so hot, who wanted to go to the zoo? There is a decent shopping center
across the street and a couple of restaurants within walking distance. It did have a good-sized laundry room, but unless you
really just want a cheap week, I wouldn't stay here again.

Great, cheap, late night eats. We found it to be a more healthy alternative to fast food. All burritos and tacos are freshly
made, and there are fish and vegetarian options as well. Open after the show until 2:00 AM.

Unbelievable homestyle Mexican. In an old house and if it's cool enough the outdoor patio is beautiful with a pool in the
middle. Two items on the menu: fajitas and enchiladas. Both the chicken and beef fajitas were wonderful. Magaritas. . . unreal.

Located within walking of the Homestead Suites. Their motto is "Sho' good eatin'; cain't be beaten." Good country
breakfasts; great spiced apple pancakes. Decent prices; cheaper than IHOP.

Located a few blocks from Bass Hall, this sushi restaurant had good sushi at reasonable prices. The night we were there they
were out of a lot sushi/sashimi but all the rolls we had were delicious and served very attractively. The tempura was a little
heavy on the batter. The place was busy on a Monday night, which is a good sign. They had polite and efficient service. Lesley
(one of our company managers) went back again and they were booked solid but they found her a table anyway because they had
remembered her from before (and she was on crutches)

Good menu, good sushi. Really close to Bass Hall.

Located next door to the Homestead Suites, behind the Denny's on University. Tracie was very good. She charged a dollar an
hour. She was much more of an aggressive, therapeutic massage than a foo-foo one. No amenities or atmosphere if that's what
you like, but a good solid massage including stretching where needed. I came out of this energized and ready to work, rather
than relaxed and ready to nap.
