for the Start of Daniel's 70^th Week

God's Holy Feast days reveal the message of who we are and what is our true potential. The feast days are also the key to understanding prophecy. As explained in the web page God's Master Plan of 7,000 Years, I believe the Bible indicates three perspectives of when the Lord will return. First, the 7,000 year plan that shows the Messiah will return as king approximately 2,000 years after coming as the sacrificial lamb. The resurrection of the nation of Israel is the second great sign. Lastly there is Daniel's 70th week, but there is no way to know what year it will begin. One must simply keep watch for the right event at the right time of the year and continue to watch to see if subsequent events occur on schedule from that starting point. If the events of the midpoint occur on time, then the prophecy is confirmed.

Based upon the methodology presented in The Last Days in the Light of God’s Feast Days, the Bible indicates that Daniel's 70th week will end on the Day of Atonement. This means that it will start 7 lunar years (2520 days) prior to that date. In other words, there is only one day each year that qualifies for the start of the 70th week. Daniel's 70th week must begin on the one day in the fall such that 2520 days later brings you to the Day of Atonement - 7 years later.

If no event occurs on Oct. 21, 2006 that could fulfill the start of the 70th week, then keep watch for the right date in the following year.

If an event does occur that appears to fulfill the elements defined for the start of the 70th week and it occurs around the correct date, it is still important to confirm the prophecy by continuing to watch for the latter rain and the midpoint events to occur on time. If they do occur on time using the actual start date and you witness the outpouring of the Holy Spirit with the latter rain, then be confident that the Lord will return soon and that the choice you are about to face at the midpoint, to accept a device inside yourself, is indeed the mark of the beast. Accepting it means you also accept responsibility for the actions of the government you support.

If the midpoint events do not occur on time, then you must conclude the event that appeared to be the start of the 70th week was indeed not the proper fulfillment. It would then be a time of prayer and reflection to determine why the event did not actually fulfill prophecy. The mathematics of Daniel's 70 weeks prophecy is quite unique. When counting off the first 69 weeks, regardless of whether you use lunar or solar years, you will remain in synchronization with the sabbatical cycles. This is because the difference between the two counts is exactly 7 years. This is explained in the web page The Keys of Daniel. Once the Holy Spirit helped me to see this, I realized the math was highlighting the sabbatical cycle. It then seemed reasonable to assume that the first 69 weeks identify and mark the sabbatical cycle.

Therefore, by following the cycle forward that began in 444 BC, it turns out that the year 2000 is a sabbatical year. The next sabbatical year will be 2007. As explained in The Keys of Daniel, the 70th week should end on a Jubilee year. We don't know the Jubilee cycle but we can say it can only begin in the Fall of a sabbatical year. So assuming we have identified the correct sabbatical cycle, then the possibility for the start of the 70th week can be narrowed to once in 7 years. The next opportunity is the year 2007, the next Sabbath year. The calculations for this possibility are shown in the following chart.

If no event occurs on Nov. 10, 2007 that could fulfill the start of the 70th week, then keep watch 7 years later, after the next sabbatical year. If no event occurs on the right date, then 7 years after that, and so on.

If an event does occur that appears to fulfill the elements defined for the start of the 70th week and it occurs around the correct date, then one must still confirm the prophecy by watching for the right events to occur 1260 days later on the midpoint, calculated to be Apr. 23, 2011. If the events occur on time, then you can count the days to the return of the Messiah.

Theoretically, since the Messiah will return on a Jubilee year (after 7 sabbatical cycles) the possibility for his return occurs only once every 49 years.

However, there is another way to look at the package. The prophecy itself is composed of 10 jubilee cycles. The 70^th week completes the count for the final jubilee. If one is to consider the view that God stopped the count after the 69^th week, then He can start the count anytime He wants and the final week itself will complete the count to the final jubilee. Some have called Jerusalem God's timepiece. I tend to agree, so when Jerusalem, or part of it, falls out of the control of Israel under a piece treaty that defines the start of the 70^th week, this would resurrect the beast and naturally begin the clock again. So perhaps Daniel's 70^th week may begin any year.

I believe God gave us the 70^th week to give us confidence during the most difficult time in our history. When it seems that the entire world is going to hell and proud of it, as we observe the events of prophecy occurring exactly on God's feast days, then we should be confident that God is in control, not the Antichrist, and that all will go as promised.

Let us keep watch. If an event occurs that appears to be the treaty determining the status of Israel and Jerusalem, as called for in Daniel 9:27; and further, that it occurs on that one day that lines up with the Day of Atonement 7 years later, then take note and watch closely! Watch for the midpoint events to occur 3½ years later, as shown on the charts above. If the events occur exactly when they should, then be confident that the Lord will return about 3½ years later to remove the impending tyranny and shorten its days. If not for the intervention of Christ, once established, this tyranny could last a long time. One of the events of the midpoint will be the decision to let the government put a device inside you or not. If the decision is difficult or confusing, then know at least by the timing itself, that the decision you will then face is indeed the mark of the beast. Just say NO and let spirit guide you into the wilderness with others who also understand. Ultimate peace does not come via ultimate control.

After the start of Daniel's 70^th Week, watch most especially and with great anticipation for the Latter Rain, the outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon the face of the earth. This will be the refreshing that will strengthen the faithful to make it through the tribulation. But prepare your heart first to not be weighed down by the cares of the world so that you may be sealed to witness for the Most High.

The Mathematics of Daniel

1 solar year = 365.25 days

1 lunar year = 360 days = 30 days x 12 months

7 lunar years = 7 x 360 days = 2520 days = 1 week of years
7 years is one sabbatical cycle

The term "week" of years is to remind one of the several levels of meaning woven into this prophecy:
The 7th day is a Sabbath, a day of rest for God's people.
The 7th year is a Sabbath, a year of rest for God's land.
The 7th millennium is a Sabbath, 1000 years of rest for God's nation.

It is interesting to note that 7 lunar years is 98.6% of 7 solar years.
