Stop the Presses, Folks.....
...I went to see an honest to God movie tonight. Probably one of the first ones worth the ten bucks it now takes to get into one. Originally, the new Clooney movie was on deck, but I was stuck at work and figured I wouldn't make the showtime, and the next showing was just too late for my friend, who's in the middle of a move and has to be vacated from her place tomorrow. Heretical as it may be, after the week I had, I think tonight I needed a "Were-Rabbit" far more than I needed Clooney.
Did I just type that out loud? Man, I DO need a vacation.
And heads up to the Stennies in the house -- not only is the main feature great, but it's got a fantastic short in front involving penguins at Christmas. I mean, how much better can it get?

Betster, this one's for you on a recipe card Sunday. I was giggling as I read this article.
Today Mom HelenG and I went to Baltimore to go try to catch "Glennmovie". It was a fairly typical Squeeze-related event for me -- driving to the crappiest part of some city somewhere, that's both menacing and deserted at the same time, parking my car with the out-of-state plates, looking too old/suburban/white for the neighborhood, and wandering around dark alleys under a highway overpass until the club in question could be found. Sadly, when we got there, the movie was not going to be shown, as the techno/house segment of the music festival that the movie was being shown in conjunction with had to be moved indoors because the weather looked bad. (Hey, that overpass seemed to be providing plenty of cover -- not sure why they couldn't stay out there.). All the DJs were being moved inside, and, as the festival official said, "if we move all these people in here, there's NO WAY anyone could hear any of the seminar speakers or films". Especially when they seemed to be letting each DJ run his/her show out of a bunch of booths ALL AT THE SAME TIME. Now, I'll be the first to admit I'm not huge fan of techno, but really -- 10 threads going "chunka/chunka/chunka"/"boom, boom, boom" and sirens wailing at the same time is really nuts and awful. As usual, Glenn's stuff was in the middle of a crowd that is definitely not his.
So we wandered around South Baltimore (now very gentrified) had lunch at an Indian buffet and then hung out in a coffee house. Very pleasant day, but the movie is still not seen. Oh well.
