Still a landless peasant, as of 3 pm. There were 13 contracts on the house, and two people really bid it up. I'm a bit relieved -- I wasn't quite prepared to move just yet. Besides I'm nosy and wanted to get inside more places.

Lily's Stressful Monday

So yesterday I was minding my own business and all, and I decided to go back to that open house for the condo that wasn't ready to show on Saturday when I went around with the realtor. Well, it didn't really start there, it started with a nasty note from a credit card company saying that if I didn't use their blessed card in the next two weeks, they would cut me off for want of not loving their card. Now, I don't use that card -- it's the one I keep in an "undisclosed secure location" in case my wallet gets stolen and I need to buy something. However, since I have hopes of buying a place sometime soon, I didn't want any nastygrams from a credit card company on my credit report, even if the reason was "she never uses the damn thing". So it was off to Target for a round of buying loads of crap to feed the beast. However, on the way to the Tar-jay, I decided to run by the open house in it's last half hour. After coming out, I decided that this had the combination of space, location and price (okay, over-price, but I don't feel like I'm being gang-raped if I pay that), that I should....make an offer. So it's all day with the bank (to get that pesky pre-approval letter they said I could have but never bothered with) and now I'm seriously contemplating turning over all my money to some strange institution.

I probably won't get it, because I refuse to overbid, and will probably underbid with an escalation clause up to the asking price, which in this market is a huge no-no, but just the fact that I'm even going through the motions means....a stressful Monday.
