Okay, another drive-by. Can someone please put a link on their page to my homepage? The problem is that these computers do NOT have a tilde on them, so I can't plug in my own webpage. I can get to my blog, but not the main page. Oh wait, yes I could if I erase the last part -- but it would nice if someone would do it too, assuming you don't have tilde in your address (sorry, Michelle, that leaves you out). Ah, the joys of weird computers.

Okay, I'm here typing at the world's slowest internet terminal, so I haven't read any of y'all yet. So here is the quick drive-by until I can get to a speedy terminal. But some really random thoughts...

Frankfurt airport sucks. Completely disorganized and not enough chairs to spend a three-plus hour layover. Constantly changing gates.

Four Seasons hotels are very, very nice. Shame I only had eight hours in one, due to leaving late from aforemented sucky airport.

Americans are very, very easy to spot overseas. To quote My Cousin Vinny -- "you need to blend more".

Watch This Space

As most of my regular readers are aware, I shall be heading off to a "secret undisclosed location with tentative internet access" for several months. I have no idea what I'm going to find, how much fun I'm going to have, or even what the hell I'm going to be doing. Sounds typical, doesn't it?

While conditions are going to be primitive, there's a part of me that feels like I'm off to summer camp, only calling for Mommy to come get me is going to be more difficult than usual. Not that it phases my mother, as she's kind of excited about the whole thing and keeps wondering if it's going to be fun and can she tag along. Mothers are funny that way, you know. On the other hand, I can tell she's nervous, as she's taken to calling about four times a day. Don't be nervous, Mom.

I'll try to post here when I can -- at least a drive by at the first opportunity just as a proof of concept. Keep checking up, and catch you all in December.

If anyone wants to send me notes, funnies and various and sundry other items (but not big-ass files), you can send them to lilyg25 at yahoo.com. They're the post-cards of the 21st century! Also, let me know what you want from the middle of nowhere -- so far I've been asked to bring back dirt (I seriously doubt that will be a problem) and rocks. I hope not to bring back disease and pestilence -- those are big bummers.
