Random dumb thoughts

This page is to put those little weirdnesses of life that don't really fit anywhere else, or aren't worth a page of their own

Getting old sucks. You forget everything (well, that's my excuse, I've been forgetting stuff for years). I remember that today I said to myself "that's a really cool thought. I must blog about that". Of course, I have absolutely no clue what that thought is now that I'm home.

So you'll get yesterday's observation. Now that the Great Flood of '03 has subsided (well, for a few days, at least), I went out for a lunchtime jaunt. It was absolutely gorgeous -- probably around 80 with relatively low humidity. Completely bright blue sky, light breeze, the whole lot. So now comes my guilty secret. When the weather is that gorgeous -- I really, really like the smell of cigarette smoke against the fresh air. It makes me understand just why the Indians/Native Americans/Whoevers used to light the tobacco up in the first place. So I made sure to stand a bit by the smokers who, since the weather was very nice, weren't all huddled by the entrance to the building and were out in that nice air. And this is coming from an asthmatic that is triggered by ciggies.

Not much of an entry, but as I mentioned in the beginning I forgot what I was going to blog about....OH WAIT! There it is, the thought popped in suddenly. I was cracking up today when I read the following headline: "Large Portion Sizes Lead to Obesity". Some study went and figured that out. I hope it wasn't a government study, because if it was, just don't ever accuse ME of wasting your tax dollars....

You Might Want to Check that Ad Copy

Today as I was driving home from work, I heard a company on the radio seeking to hire new management employees. At the end of the ad, they started listing the standard disclaimers and hiring guidelines. The last one was "We are proud to be a drug-free environment". Normally, this would reassure me about the company, but as the ad was for CVS -- one of the major pharmacy chains in the area -- I'm not too sure. Call me weird, but I prefer my drug store to have some drugs inside.
