The Reiki healing takes place when a Practitioner, or "Healer", directs the Spiritually-guided Life Force Energy through themselves and into the Client. Both people receive the benefits of this healing energy that we call Reiki. I teach in my classes that Reiki is a discipline. Reiki teaches you how to fine-tune your focus and intention. I feel it is important for you to understand that it is your intention and the intention of the Client, that causes the healing energy to work. The Reiki attunements raise your personal vibration higher, and therefore you have more access to the healing vibration.
"Rei" means Universal, or Spiritually-guided, and "Ki", of course, means Life Force Energy. The truth is, all of the words are used to try to describe an energy. Reiki is one way of accessing that energy. The symbols in Reiki 2 are powerful indeed ... and the Reiki Master symbols are wonderful. (I recommend learning Tibetan Reiki, not just traditional Usui.)

It is very important to find a Master that has unlimited
resources not only to help you learn Reiki but also to support you through
and on this path of Love and Healing. This is why it is important to find
a True Master ... Any one can have the title "Reiki Master". A
True Master is your friend and teacher long after you receive your attunements
and certificate. A True Master is always seeking to learn and understand
more for the benefit of their Clients, students, and themselves.
Require this of your Reiki Master.... a Masters job is to serve.
I highly recommend a wonderful book on Reiki named "Essential Healing" by Diane Stein. A lot of the Masters dislike this book because she shows us the symbols used in Reiki, but it is an excellent book. It is suggested reading for my students.
I feel that it is very important to stress that all healing energy works the same.. Whether you practice Reiki, or Karuna, or just lay your hands on people, it's all the same energy, only the diciplines are different.
