Intention is very important in healing.
In Webster's dictionary we find these definitions of "Intent":
As an adjective:
1. Firmly fixed or directed.
2. Having the attention sharply focused.
As a noun:
1. The act of determining upon some action or result.
2. Purpose or attitude toward the affect of ones action
But what is our true Intention here? Do we want to heal the woman with cancer because she wants to be healed? Well, of course we do ... that's noble and compassionate, but is it in her Highest Good to be healed at this time?
We cannot as healers always know these things. Unless the Client runs their energy well they do not always realize what is in their highest good, or to be honest, that it is their choice to be healed or not.
As Elielia, a very wise and experienced Healer once explained to me ... Many people choose long and painful diseases such as cancer or AIDS so that they have the time to work through emotional issues that otherwise would have to wait till the next lifetime. For example, a woman who has cancer is given six months to live. In the next six months, this person might choose to fix that negative relationship with her family by forgiving the things that they have, (from her perspective), done against her. After all ... time is now short. All of the people involved now have the opportunity to say those last words and forgive old wounds and clear up misunderstandings. The person now has the opportunity to learn about themselves ... what the meaning of life was ... where they did right, where they screwed up, how to forgive themselves, and how they might do it differently next time.
So as you can see, if we as healers intend that this client be healed, with our intention focused sharply on a fixed result, we could be cheating this person of their free will to be sick if they so choose, and the lessons that come with that pain and sickness.
This is why some people do not receive the healing that Spirit gives so freely. It's like saying I force you to be healed whether it is in your Highest Good or not! We must Honor people in the place that they are in, as that is how they will learn what they must to transend these things.
In my experience, it is much more effective to explain about the choices that the Client has available to them. To explain that this is a chance that they have been presented with to work out the old Karmic patterns of learning only through pain and suffering. We can teach them the ways to access their Higher Self and Spirit. We can Love them, relieve their pain, relieve their fears, and teach them how to be happy with the choices they make. This is how people learn that they can be healed.
Everyone has the right to change their mind. Everyone can be healed. But your intent must be to teach them these things, along with teaching them how to accept a healing. The rest is up to the Client and their Higher Self.
