INTRODUCING

Emmett Loverde

White Wings is proud to present ''Tales From The Westside'' by Emmett Loverde!

I first came into contact with Emmett's work when I was somehow mysteriously placed on an electronic mailing list for ''Tales.'' A letter from the author explained that recipients would have a chance to sample three episodes, and if by that time he hadn't heard that we wished to continue receiving them, they would stop arriving in our mailboxes. I said to myself: ''Now there's a polite fellow,'' and settled in with the full expectation that they'd quickly hit the trash box along with the rest of the spam.

However, after reading the first installment, I was intrigued enough to check out the second one. Emmett's brash and witty satire delighted both my intellect and funny bone. It didn't take me long to write back and say, ''Keep me on your list!''

''Tales From The Westside'' takes aim at the absurdities of modern life with dogged persistence, astounding subtletly....and....dare I say....commendable accuracy. The writer's formidable weapons are The Peeve List, The Poem, The Essay, The Review, The Interview, The Screenplay....to name a few. His presentation is neat and pretty darn consistent. The overall effect is journalistic in style. And Ohhh, That Wit Is Dry!

There's nothing healthier than having a good laugh at oneself, so if you feel you're up to the challenge, dive into

''Tales From The Westside''
