This show takes a hard look at the realities of the medieval Crusades, tracing not only the route of the crusaders, but also the influences that gave rise to this colossal buffoonery. Terry Jones slaps on a full suit of armor, including chain mail, helmet and shield, and takes off on foot on the road to Jerusalem in the boiling sun. Medieval mosaics come to life, reciting the words of ancient kings, priests and queens. Not since Monty Python and the Holy Grail have the Middle Ages been so hilarious! It just goes to show that truth is sillier than fiction ; )
