One beautiful spring day the cooing parakeets ate an especially large breakfast of worms and bugs. LiLi could tell that something
was different. She whispered a question to her parents.
"Why does the nest feel so heavy today?"
"You'll have to ask the birds," her mother answered.
"Sing to them in your sweetest voice," her father advised.
So LiLi rustled her leaves and sang sweetly to Amor and Amore, as the parakeets called each other. The excited birds
danced a little during her song and then stepped to the edges of their nest. LiLi could see three small orbs resting in the
center. Eggs! At last!
