LISA THE GREAT

One day when I was in fourth grade, instead of doing my homework I programmed a TI94A or some such primitive computer to repeat those words in an endless scroll of glory. Here we are almost twenty years later, and I’m still playing with computers when I should be working.  I've also been really busy playing lately ... I celebrated my birthday with a fabulous party, but for some reason no one took pictures. Unless they're planning to blackmail me.  But how much trouble could a girl get into swing dancing?

Currently, I'm on a job hunt.  You can check out my resume if you like.

I love words and images, and I’m excited by emerging technologies on the net and in the filmmaking world. Whether through a picture or a phrase, I believe poetry is the ultimate form of communication. Below is one of my favorites, by a poet from Chicago:

We Real Cool

The Pool Players
Seven at the Golden Shovel
We real cool. We
Left school. We

Lurk late.  We
strike straight.  We

Sing sin.  We
Thin gin.  We

Jazz June.  We
Die soon

Gwendolyn Brooks

Gwendolyn Brooks has been poet laureate of Illinois for most of my life.  I am privileged to have heard her read when I was a child, and I hope to have that opportunity again.

This website is an evolving project. I called it The Unicorn Hut because it will be a home for the imagination. Eventually there will be some cool pictures of unicorns and other imaginary creatures instead of my name everywhere. I also hope to add links to some of my favorite poetry, literature, and film sites soon. Hopefully The Unicorn Hut will become a virtual coffeehouse with plenty of refreshment for the brain. In the meantime, check out Amazon.com for interesting and inspiring books...

If you really like to read, there's a couple of lists you might check out. Personally, I think the public list is more interesting than the one developed by the Modern Library (more books by women too!)

100 Books you were supposed to read in high school and didn't.

Check out my sister's site at Taulin's Page.

She turned me on to a poetry webring you might like. They have a very cool zine.

Of course, if you'd like to read some of my work, check out the upcoming link to my college chapbook Imperfect Phrases.
A coffeehouse needs some music, and Websistor is the place to get it. Check out your favorite station -- from anywhere in the world.World Wide Webradio

I'd love your comments.LISA
