With some 20 years experience in international communications with the World Bank and as an independent consultant, Lesley Anne Simmons has developed communications and public relations strategies, managed outreach campaigns, written annual reports, promotional and educational brochures, newsletters, press releases, speeches, articles, and material for the internet. 

  

The author of numerous corporate documents she has also published two books: for children, Meet Kofi, Maria, and Sunita: Family Life in Ghana, Peru, and India (Cobblestone Publishing Inc.  Peterborough, NH, 1996) and a local history, Somerset: One Hundred Years a Town (Arcadia Publishing Images of America, Charleston South Carolina, 2005).

Lesley is the proud winner of the Educational Press Association of America Distinguished Achievement Award (for excellence in educational journalism) and winner of the National Trust for Historic Preservation's 2003 Preservation Week poster contest.

 

She served two terms as an elected member of the Town of Somerset council (in Chevy Chase, MD) from 2004-8 and was an appointed member of the Board of Directors of Access Montgomery (which provides two of Montgomery County’s public, education, and government (PEG) cable channels) in 2007-8.

A graduate of London University’s Goldsmith College, she also holds graduate degrees from the Catholic University of Washington D.C. and the University of Birmingham’s Ironbridge Institute.
