Happy 4th of July, everyone.  Hit a little snag (also known as "feeling the need to trim a couple frames out of the movie because the director's OCD causing the need to re-encode and rebuild the entire DVD") but we're back now on target.  Will proof the final duplication master tonight, and will be sending ut out to Post + Beam for duplication on Tuesday.

Oh, and check out the DVD Cover if you'd like.  It'll be coming soon to a color laserwriter at a Kinko's near you!

Completed the design of the DVD cover.

As the Muppets like to say, moving right along...

Will be starting duplication next week after one final proofing of all the materials -- DVD, etc.  Then it will be time to move on to the next thing.

And it will also be time to change this news page so it reads less like a 4th grader's blog and more like a news page.

Today Le Shower was finished.

The final music mixing happened over the past few nights, with a last minute rush-to-render-and-encode to make the submission for L.A. ShortsFest.

I think it came out pretty well... and I owe an enormous debt of gratitude to everyone that helped make my little 290-throwback about a gay Frenchman in a straight man's shower come to life.

So I just wanted to give some shout outs to everyone involved: Jay/Tim, David, Kate, Dan, Sean, Schmed, James, Gutmann, Rian, HP, Jolene, Jeff, Steve, Leeanna.... Thank you, guys -- you made it happen (whether you realize it or not).

Next up is a screening -- most likely at either CineSpace or at the Trocadero on Sunset.  Keep posted for when and where.

Because remember: Just because a ghost is haunting your shower, doesn't mean he's there all the time.

Guess what movie finished their music cues last night, mofos????????

Um, yeah.  Ours.  In retrospect I guess that wasn't too hard a question to figure out.

Just taking a quick break from going over the final mix, and then -- finally, after almost seven months (not bad for an off-the-cuff diversion that was supposed to be done by February, huh?) -- the short will finally be done.

Yes, that's right. Le Shower.  Completed.

Put that in your drain pipe and smoke it.

No, we're not dead over here...  Just sleeping.

Yesterday saw the recording of Vincent and Jim's vocals for the singing portions of the film.  (Take that, Baz Luhrmann!  Take that, Southland Tales!)  Final cues to be recorded this weekend... just in time for submission to L.A. ShortsFest.

Final picture lock has come in at 11:24.

Oh, and the movie now takes place in outer space and features a dwarf.

Or not.

Recording of the soundtrack for Le Shower began yesterday in earnest.  One cue down, 10 to go.

Color timing was completed on Saturday.

Final DVD menu design in progress.

Estimated completion date?  June 15, 2004.

When to see it after then?  Hell if I know.  I just make these things, man... I don't know anything about getting them seen. Sheesh.

The first color timing pass on Le Shower was finished last Thursday night, and was screened a couple times on Friday and over the course of the weeekend.  Certainly, there remains a lot of tweaking to do (those night scenes with Tim and Katarina are way too magenta, etc.) but given that I'm making up this as we go along, it's not bad at all (big thanks to Steve Yedlin for the run-down on 3-point color correction... saved my ass).

And yes, you guessed it -- until there is actual concrete news on the progress of the short as far as festivals/submissions/lawsuits/etc., this news section will probably end up being more of an online journal (much like what I used to write for Danny Angyl's site). I'll end up moving the journal to a different page as we go on, don't you worry, but for now may as well park it here.

I'll be putting up a rough preliminary version of the Cast & Crew page in the next few days. That, and some further picture editing are in order (after stepping away from the short and not having watched it in it's entirety, it's become clear the last few days that we can do even more tweaking, and will be adding a few more temp cues for Sean to work off of for the score (a good call Rian made about a month ago).

So slow and steady is the name of the game at this point. Well, not really.... Technically, I suppose "Finishing the Short" would be the name of the game, and "slow and steady" is more of a strategy... Though now that I think about it it's more of a philosophy than a strategy... a strategy would tend to be more goal based...

But I ramble digressively. I must bid adieu -- Taco Bell awaits!

Well look who's fancy over here! Yeah, that's right... I'm finally getting around to putting some sort of content on those link pages you go to when you click my hi-larious shower knob buttons down below. Today we see the birth of the LINKS PAGE and the STORY PAGE!

YES! STORY!! So you actually have some sort of idea as to what this whole shebang is all about!

Will keep things updated as they progress -- will let you know. Current status of the film is that we're finishing the color timing and just waiting for music producer extraodinaire Sean Spillane to find time to record the music cues while he finishes the next ARLO record.

We're also about to shoot interview segments for the DVD special features, specifically for the upcoming documentary "Tears Behind The Smile: The Vincent Pierre Lameur Dupont Story". We'll have some links to that soon (maybe even an online version -- oooh, fancy!).

Well I gotta get going -- Taco Bell awaits!

Prepare yourself.

It's all about to change.

Nothing you've ever known will be the same after this point.

You think you know comedy? You think you know heartbreak? You think you know faucets, sinks, and shower nozzles?

You're wrong.

Okay, so this is looking pretty boring, and also really "big" I realize. And not "big" as in "the Next Big Thing" or "Boy, when that kid gets to the NFL he's gonna be big", but big as in just large. See, I'm just figuring out this net thing, so it doesn't quite work yet, and I'm just now understanding how the graphics translate. Cause what looks awesome in photoshop just looks big ole LegoLand goofy when it gets up on the web.

That said, this site is for an upcoming short film called, yes you guessed it, "Le Shower". More info will be forthcoming, but in the meantime you can send and email harassments or inquiries to:  info@leshower.com.

There's a lot coming... what the movie's about, who's in it, the ever-present question of "uh, why?" and much more. In the meantime... well in the meantime watch a movie, read a book, fall in love with a girl, or build a house or something. None of these links are working yet -- they're just there so I can go to work tomorrow and see just how messed up the page looks from a different computer.

So Bon Soir... and welcome to the world of... Le Shower.
