I was born in Eastern Washington
on May 11th, 1960. My mother's regular doctor was not around. The physician
who replaced him did not do his job properly. As a result my hips were
dislocated during birth. Unfortunately, this problem was not found until
I was almost 2 years old. I had already learned to walk.
It was my father, who one
day said to my mother " She's got a hitch in her get along. " that prompted
my parents to talk to a doctor to find out what was wrong. I'm not exactly
sure how I ended up seeing a specialist at Children's Hospital in Seattle,
but I do know for the next 16 years it became home away from home. And
to this day I hold special place in my heart for Dr. Toole. The man who
made it possible for me to walk on my own for all these years. |
