CHANGE THE BORDER SIZE OF WINDOWS
You know, of course, that you can bring your mouse to the
edge of most windows, and when the mouse cursor changes
into a pair of arrows pointing in two directions, you can
then drag the mouse in order to resize the window. Well,
on some computers, perhaps most often on laptops, it can
be exceedingly difficult to hold the mouse steady enough
on that very thin border of the window so that you can
keep the double arrow displayed as you begin dragging. So
your border is too small. How can you make the border
wider?

You begin by clicking on the Start button, then the
Settings menu item, then Control Panel, and then double
clicking the Display icon. Next click on the Appearance
tab. In the area that is labeled Item, you click on the
downward pointing triangle on the right end of the field
and this will cause a menu to drop down. Click on Active
Window Border. This causes the Size field next to the
Item field to display the current width of the border,
which by default in Windows is 1. You can change this
value to anything up to a maximum of 50. If you watch the
diagram on this page as you try different values, you
will be shown what the border will look like in that
particular size. Once you've seen what you like, you can
click on the Apply button and then the OK button. Before
doing this, you can also change the color of the border
by clicking on the downward pointing triangle in the
Color list box, which brings up a palette of colored
boxes for you to choose from by clicking on one of them.
