VIEWING ATTRIBUTES OF FILES
You may know that files have four separate
attributes under DOS: Hidden vs. Not Hidden, System vs.
Non-System, Read-Only vs. Non-Read-Only, and Archived vs.
not Archived. There was (and still is) a DOS command
called ATTRIB you could use to display the attributes of
a file or group of files. If you do not want to go into
an MS-DOS session Prompt to type in some commands, is
there another way you can view the file attributes of a
file? Yes, you begin by right-clicking on the desired
file, then choose Properties from the context menu. On
the Properties page you will see, at the bottom, some
check-marked fields for the four attributes. If a check
mark is present, then the associated attribute is on. If
you wanted to modify the attributes of a file you could
click on the desired fields to either turn on or off the
associated attribute.
