USING KEYBOARD TO NAVIGATE LARGE FOLDERS

Presumably, you have opened up your Windows folder in Windows Explorer or My Computer. That is one LARGE folder! I don't know about you, but mine has 48 subfolders, and 452 files! Say that you're searching your Windows folder for a file called MEMBOOT.DLL; you would normally drag the scroll bar around with your mouse. It MIGHT be faster to use the keyboard. First, make sure the right pane of Explorer, containing the contents of the Windows folder, is active. (You might need to click on that pane with your mouse.) I assume also that you are using Details view, and that the files and folders are sorted alphabetically. Then type the letter M, which is the first letter of the file name MEMBOOT.DLL, and you will be taken to the first folder or file beginning with the letter M. If that is not what you're searching for, then keep typing M until you get there, or get to the first file beginning with M that comes alphabetically after MEMBOOT.DLL, whichever is first.
