THUMBNAIL IMAGES OF GRAPHIC FILES
I have a number of graphic images in various formats on
my hard drive, for example GIF images in a folder called
\GIF, bitmap images in a folder called \BMP, photographic
images in a folder called \JPEG. I naturally have various
viewers for these and other types of graphic formats. But
I was pleased to learn that Windows 98 (as well as
Windows 95 with Internet Explorer 4.0 installed) allows
you to see what are called "thumbnails" of
these graphic images. If you turn on Thumbnail View for a
folder, you will see small copies of the images displayed
in rows and columns (as in Large Icon view, but bigger.)
To do this: first, right click on any Windows 98 Explorer
folder; then select Properties; next choose "Enable
Thumbnail View". Now, when you open the folder, you
need to click the View menu, and choose "Thumbnail
View". If you want to undo your operation, simply
select any other option from the View menu.
