SORTING DIRECTORY ENTRIES IN EXPLORER

If you're using the "Details" view of Windows Explorer (which looks like what you get by typing "DIR" in DOS), then you can sort the files and subdirectories listed in various orders: ascending or descending by name alphabetically, for instance, or increasing or decreasing by file size. To do this just click on the column name to toggle the order between ascending and descending (the column names are Name, Size, Type, and Modified.) If your Explorer view doesn't look like a "DIR" listing, but instead appears to be a bunch of named icons, then you change to the "Details" view by pulling down the View menu and selecting Details.
