TURNING OFF TASK SCHEDULER IN WIN98
If you use have Windows 98, one of the icons on your
Taskbar in the system tray area (rightmost indented area)
may be that for a program called the Task Scheduler.
(Hold your mouse for a second or so over each icon in the
tray in order to see what each one is connected to, if
you don't know what they are. A little tool tip will pop
up with the name of the program associated with the
icon.) Turning off the Task Scheduler is an unusually
difficult and esoteric task; here is how to do it: begin
by double Clicking My Computer to open it, then double
click the Scheduled Tasks folder to open that. Now click
on Advanced and then on Stop Using Task Scheduler. You
can now close the Scheduled Tasks window and the My
Computer window. Now the icon for Task Scheduler should
have disappeared from your Taskbar.
