SYSTEM FILE PROTECTION FEATURE (WINME)

Windows ME's replacement for Windows 98's System File Checker is the feature called System File Protection. If certain protected system files are deleted or overwritten, System File Protection will automatically replace them with a clean copy of the original file extracted from the system CAB files on your hard drive. This feature cannot be disabled, and it cannot be configured either. It may be a good idea; I haven't had enough experience with Win ME to decide whether it adequately avoids "DLL Hell."
