SPEED UP PROGRAM LAUNCH IN WINDOWS 98
The Disk Defragmenter program that came with Windows 95
has been improved in Windows 98 in a very important way:
it now analyzes your program launches in the background
in order to determine which are the most common ones you
use, and it has the capability of storing these programs
in contiguous areas of the disk so that they launch as
fast as possible. To start the Defragmenter program and
turn on this feature: click the Start button, select
Programs, then Accessories, then System Tools, and
finally Disk Defragmenter. Now click the
"Settings" button and make sure that the option
for "Rearrange program files so my programs start
faster" is checked. Click OK to start defragmenting.
Please note that if your disk needs defragmenting, and it
is large, the process could take several hours.
