ENABLE SCANDISK AFTER BAD SHUTDOWN
If you ever have to shutdown your computer abnormally,
you will probably see Scandisk running the next time you
start up the computer. This is a good thing, because
Scandisk can often detect and fix any bad files caused by
the abnormal shutdown. Sometimes Scandisk doesn't run
after a bad shutdown, for any of a number of reasons. One
reason could be a setting you can get to if you have
Windows 98, in this way: click on the Start button, then
on the item for Run, type in MSCONFIG, click OK. Click on
the button for Advanced on the General tab, and then
among a number of other settings you will see a check box
for Disable Scandisk after bad shutdown. Make sure you do
NOT have this item checked if you want Scandisk to run.
