SEARCH FOR SHORTCUTS TO A FILE
If you delete a file, or a folder, which has one
or more shortcuts pointing to it, it would be useful to
be able to find the complete list of them so that they
also can be deleted. Here is how that is done: click the
Start button, then Find on the menu that cascades up,
then Files or Folders. In the Find dialog box click on
the Advanced tab. Click on the down arrow next to the
field for Of Type, so as to make visible a list of
possible types, and then click on Shortcut in this list.
In the Containing Text field on this tab, type the name
of the file or folder. Click on the Options menu and make
sure the Case Sensitive option is not checked. (Click on
it if so to remove the checking.) Now click on the Find
Now button, and soon a list of all the shortcuts pointing
to your file or folder will appear.
