SKIP FLOPPY DRIVE CHECK AT BOOT TIME
One of the things that Windows does by default at boot
time is to see if a floppy drive in present on the
system, and this will add a few seconds to the boot
process. You can cause Windows 98 to bypass this check
and thus speed up the boot a bit. Begin by right-clicking
on My Computer and choose Properties from the context
menu that scrolls out. Click on the Performance tab and
then click on the button for File System. This will bring
up the File System Properties dialog box, where you next
click the tab for Floppy Disk. Then you click to remove
the check mark for "Search for new floppy disk
drives each time your computer starts." Then click
on the OK button twice.
