GETTING RID OF "SHORTCUT TO" IN SHORTCUTS

When you first got Windows 95, and had learned how to create shortcuts to often-used programs on your desktop, you may have gone to a bit of work to rename these shortcuts to something other than what Windows chose. For example, I decided the words "shortcut to" were superfluous, because the presence of the little arrow on the bottom left of the icon already told me I was looking at a shortcut. I found to my surprise that after I'd changed the names of perhaps half a dozen of these icons to delete the words "Shortcut to", that Windows stopped putting those words in the name! There seems to be some sort of learning logic built-in so that you can teach the computer this. (I wonder if there are any other places in the system where Windows learns from you?)
