Shortcuts Tips CREATE A QUICK VIEW SHORTCUT In a previous column, I wrote about the windows file viewer utility, Quick View. This can be used to look at many different types of documents without having to actually open them in the program that created them. For example, you can open Microsoft Word documents with Quick View without having the MS Word program on your system. If you do not have Quick View on your computer, you can install it by this method: click on the Start button, then on Settings, next on Control Panel, and finally double click on the Add/Remove Programs applet. Then you click on the tab for Windows Setup, click on the Accessories component from the list, and click on the button for Details. You should see Quick View in this list, without a check mark next to it. Click to put a check mark there, and click on the OK button twice. Now, once Quick View is installed, you can create a shortcut to put on your Desktop or the Quick Launch bar (assuming you have Windows 95 with Internet Explorer 4.0, or Windows 98.) The normal location for the Quick View program is: C:\Windows\System\Viewers\Quikview.exe. To view files quickly, just drag and drop a file on to
the shortcut icon. |
