CLOSE ON EXIT

Note: this tip should be read in conjunction with PASSING PARAMETERS TO A PROGRAM tip in Shortcuts category.

Now if you leave your shortcut to BROWSE.COM as it is, then after you have finished browsing a file and exit the program by typing the <Esc> key, the MS-DOS session window remains open, with the words "FINISHED - Browse" in the title bar, and you can close that by clicking on the exit box (the "X" at the extreme right of the title bar.) Or, to avoid having to do that, you can go back to your shortcut for Browse, right-click in order to see the context menu, choose "Properties", go back to the Program tab, and then click in order to put a check mark next to the entry "Close on exit".
