TWEAKUI'S REPAIR FUNCTIONS

I have written before about Microsoft's Powertoys, and in particular about the TweakUI tool, which when installed will load a Control Panel applet that can be used to provide all sorts of useful "tweaks" to the Windows User Interface. Some of the useful functions relate to repairing various aspects of Windows when it's "broke." You get to TweakUI by clicking on the Start button, then selecting Settings, clicking on Control Panel, and double-clicking the TweakUI icon. This presents a set of tabbed dialog boxes, one of which is Repair. You will read "Tweak UI can attempt to repair the following aspects of your system" and below that is a roll-down menu which you access by clicking on the little downward pointing arrow on the righthand side. The various aspects are:

- Rebuild icons
- Repair associations
- Repair font folder
- Repair hot keys
- Repair Regedit
- Repair System Files
- Repair Temporary Internet files

When you select each of these items, you will get a simple description of what it means in the section labelled Description. If you choose to do one or more of the repair functions, you do so by selecting a type of repair and then clicking on the button labelled Repair Now.
