CHANGING THE DEFAULT VIEW OF MY COMPUTER
When you right click on My Computer, you will note that
the Open option on the context menu has its initial
letter "O" underlined; that means that the
default action is Open. If you would like to change the
default action to Explore, (so that a double click gives
a 2 pane view) it is possible to do that. Here is how:
first, start up Explorer, click on the View menu, and
then click on the Options item. Next, click on the File
Types tab. Look for the file type called Folder in the
list. When you've found it, click on it and click on the
Edit button. In the dialog that opens up, click on the
action called Explore and then click on the button for
Set Default. Now a double click of My Computer will open
up a two pane view; in order to get a single pane view,
you will need to right-click and select Open from the
context menu.
