BYPASSING AUTOPLAY OF CDS
Most people probably have their computers set up so that
when they insert a CD-ROM in their drive, it
automatically starts up, whether it is an audio one or a
regular program CD-ROM. If you want to bypass this
option, there are a couple of ways to go with this. If
you just temporarily need to not play the CD-ROM that you
want to insert, then press and hold the Shift key down as
you insert the CD. On the other hand, if you want to turn
the autoplay option off permanently (or at least until
you change your mind), then you can do so as follows:
right-click on My Computer, then select Properties on the
context menu. Next select the Device Manager Tab. Find
your CD-ROM drive in the list of devices connected to
your computer, and double-click on it. You will see a
Settings Tab that you need to click in order to go to
that window. Finally, you need to turn off (remove the
check mark for) what is called "Auto Insert
Notification".
