PRTSC KEY IN WINDOWS
Windows 95 and Windows 3.x changed the operation
of the "PrtSc" key from how it used to operate
under DOS. In old DOS, this key could be used to print
the screen to your printer. This was a nice way of
getting a screen dump. Under Windows, pressing this key
now saves an image of your screen in the Windows
ClipBoard. In order to print this image you would have to
then go into a program where you can "paste"
the clipboard into a document. (For example, the Paint
program that comes as one of the Windows accessories
would work for this.) However, you can also find various
freeware and shareware programs that give you back the
DOS capability of the "PrtSc" key. Two of them
I've seen on the club bulletin board are
"PTRSCR95.ZIP" and "PRTNOW.ZIP". The
first is a shareware program, the second is a free
utililty from Pc Magazine.
