EXTENDED CHARACTER SET
Do you know how to type "extended" characters,
such as the small letter e with an apostrophe over it, or
the Spanish letter n with a tilde (~) over it? Here's one
way: you first have to probably turn it on in Windows, by
clicking on the Start button, then selecting Settings,
then Control Panel, then double clicking on Keyboard. You
next select the Language tab and pull up the Properties
for the English (United States) layout. There will be a
drop down menu where you change the setting from United
States 101 to United States - International. After
clicking on OK, etc. you now have the ability to type
such things as this: (1) type an apostrophe followed by a
lowercase letter e to get the e with a grave mark above
it; (2) type a tilde (~) followed by lowercase letter n
to get the Spanish letter made up of an n underneath the
tilde character; (3) type the double quotation mark
(") followed by a small letter u and it will become
a u with an umlaut mark over it. (4) You can also get the
Spanish upside down question mark and upside down
exclamation mark by typing the Alt key together with
either the forward slash (/) or the numeral 1. (5) Still
another example of the International keyboard is being
able to get the copyright symbol (small letter c inside a
circle) by typing the Alt key with the small letter c.
