TRANSFERRING DUN INFO TO ANOTHER COMPUTER
You know how much work it is putting in all the
parameters and settings for DUN (Dial Up Networking),
right? What happens if you want to set up the same DUN
info on another computer, say a new desktop or laptop you
acquire, or from one computer on a network to another on
the same network? You don't have to enter ALL the
information twice. Here's a description of what you have
to do: start off by getting to the Dial-Up Networking
folder, which is available by clicking on the Start
button, then Programs, then Accessories, then
Communications, and finally Dial-Up Networking. Then drag
the icon for the connectoid you want to transfer to a
floppy disk. Use the floppy disk to drag the connectoid
into the other computer's Dial-Up Networking folder.
Next, on the second computer, you have to set up your
user name and password, and you must select the other
computer's modem. You do the latter by right-clicking the
connectoid icon, choosing Properties, and then selecting
the correct modem from the drop-down list next to the
words Connect Using.
