ELIMINATE UNDERLINES IN WEB VIEW
If you have Windows 98, or Windows 95 with Internet
Explorer 4.0 installed, then you can enable what is
called Web view of your desktop. In that case, just like
in your browser, the text describing icons is underlined,
and you can choose to activate the program behind the
icon by means of a single click rather than
double-clicking, again as with hyperlinks in your
browser. But perhaps you would like to get rid of these
underlines? You can cause them to appear only when your
mouse hovers over the icon by doing the following: first
click the Start button, choose Settings from the Start
Menu, then choose Folders Options. Click on the tab for
General, then click on the item for "Custom, based
on settings you choose", to put a dot in this
circular box. Click on the button for Settings. Choose
these options: "Single-click to open an item"
and "Underline icon titles only when I point at
them." Finally, click on OK, and click on Close.
