NEW IMPROVED OPEN WITH IN WINME
In Windows 9x you can hold down the shift key while you
right click on a file, and then the context menu that
opens up will contain an option for an Open With command.
If you click this, a window opens listing a number of
program suggestions for opening the file; if none of
these is what you are looking for, you could click the
Browse button and navigate to the desired program.

In Windows Me, the Open With command is automatically
part of the context menu for right clicking on a file;
you don't have to hold down the shift key to get it added
to the other options. If you have not chosen a program
for Open With on any file type yet, then the Open With
command on the context menu is followed by three periods,
and will lead to the same type of dialog box used in
Windows 9x. However, if you have selected a program for
opening with, then the Open With command on the context
menu is followed by a forward-pointing right arrow
(similar to the case on the Start Menu, for Programs,
Settings, Find, etc.) and it leads to a menu of your
previous choices for programs to Open With. Thus, for
example, if you have previously selected Notepad to open
some file type it is not automatically associated with,
then Notepad will be listed in this menu of choices. The
last choice on the menu is Choose Program, which will go
to the dialog box used in Windows 9x.
