ABALONE -Many scenes of abalone being taken and eaten by sea otters. Also shots of densely packed abalone in areas unknown to divers and sea otters.
ALLIGATORS - Extensive topside video footage of alligators resting, walking on land, and swimming. Many dramatic close-up shots of this sinister looking animal.
ANEMONES - Extensive footage, mostly filmed with underwater lights.
BIRDS UNDERWATER - Includes a unique scene of a cormorant swimming through a kelp forest about 20 feet down. See image at upper right. Also, scenes of small birds swimming rapidly just beneath the surface
CORAL REEFS AND GARDENS - Extensive footage of the exotic coral reef community including many types of exotic corals, tropical fish, and other animals that make up the community. Some of this material is included in the 27-minute educational film "CLOUD OVER THE CORAL REEF."
SEA FANS (Gorgonian corals) and other SOFT CORALS - Many varieties in brilliant colors
SEA URCHINS - Scenes of sea urchins being taken and eaten by sea otters. Also scenes of sea urchins attached to kelp and covering a large area of the ocean bottom.
HYDROCORALS - Colorful film footage obtained with underwater lights.
JELLYFISH (MEDUSA) - Extensive footage illustrating a wide variety of jellyfish. (Included are close-up shots of stinging cells and dramatic scenes of 15-20 foot-long white jellyfish. See image upper left. Also, close-up shots of jellyfish with sea lions swimming in background. Recent video scenes of large numbers of non-toxic jellyfish from "Jellyfish Lake" in Palau. Included are scenes of snorklers in bathing suits handling the jellyfish (see image upper right )
KELP BEDS - Extensive footage of the kelp bed community including the giant Macrocystis kelp, many other types of sea weeds, fish and other animals that make up the community. Some of this footage is included in the 27-minute educational film, "THE POISONED SEA".
LOBSTERS - Close-up shots of a lobster in a cave with a moray eel and a lobster walking across a sandy, rocky bottom.
MORAY EELS - Many close-up shots of moray eels - many obtained with underwater lights. Some sequences include divers feeding the eels. Also shots of eels attacking an octopus.
OCTOPUS - Extensive footage showing many behavioral aspects including changes of body shape and color, expelling ink, fighting with moray eels, and a male and female wrestling while mating.
SEA CUCUMBERS - Many different types filmed in both temperate and tropical waters (see category on undersea time lapse photography).
SIPHONOPHORES - Several varieties of long transparent free swimming animals. Included is colorful and striking footage of a long colonial animal resembling a transparent cartridge belt. A diver is shown in many of the scenes to provide scale.
SQUID MATING - Close-up scenes of squid mating above a sandy ocean bottom. Also, scenes of the bottom covered with squid egg-sacs.
SPANISH DANCER - Colorful scenes of this graceful free swimming nudibranch obtained on film at night with underwater lights.
STARFISH - Extensive footage of many types -- sometimes filmed with underwater lights. Included is a long sequence of a "Crown of Thorns" starfish being pursued, caught and devoured by a Triton conch. (See also Undersea Time Lapse Photography
TURTLES - Close-up shots of sea turtles swimming in open water and above coral and rocks. One long sequence filmed with underwater lights of a friendly turtle posing near the camera and interacting with divers. Another long sequence of a large turtle swimming along side of an attractive lady diver. Also, a long sequence of a red-colored turtle trying to befriend the cameraman
UNIDENTIFIED COLONIAL(?) ORGANISM - Reddish transparent rotating cylindrical organism about 3 ft. long and 6 inches wide. Extensive video footage obtained in Hawaiian waters. Several biologists have looked at footage but could not identify animal.
WOLF-HEAD EELS - Dramatic close-up shots on film of these sinister looking but harmless animals (actually fish) approaching the camera. See image upper left.
