Membership
Membership is
generally obtained first by invitation. Existing members may invite
prospective members onto the network for occasional usage. The second
step is sponsorship. Prospective members need to be sponsored by an
existing member that's been in good standing for at least one year.
It's important to get to know a current member to learn what our group
is about. We're always interested in attracting folks who are active in
ham radio and willing to make a contribution to the hobby and our group
in some way. This doesn't mean you need to be an engineer or
scientist that can fix radios, program controllers or design antennas.
Some members make trips to the hilltops to repair roofs, paint
buildings, do tower work or cut weeds to keep us in compliance with
Fire code. We like people who are active and willing to lend a hand
when the call is made.
If you are interested in joining, get to know somebody. Scan our
frequencies. Learn what we're about. Your sponsor is required to submit
your application to your local affiliate. The affiliated club or owner
will likely interview you. Opinions of other members may also be
solicited and factor into the final decision.
Annual dues are currently $100.
If this sounds interesting to you, please make the effort to get to
know us. We have fun doing what we do and enjoy new people with similar
interests.
