6) Discussion/Action Item: 213 S. 6th Ave; 202 S. 5th Ave.; 741 E. Broadway (30 min)
- the developer came to present its plans to LUPC. The 741 East Broadway project was not discussed at this time; instead, the committee decided to place this project on the October agenda and hold the meeting in Oakwood, since it did not appear that Oakwood residents were notified of the project. Public comment on the other two projects came from mostly residents on the streets where the proposed projects are located. The public comment was overwhelming opposed to the project, since the projects were not in the character of the surrounding community.
- Motion: LUPC
made a motion to support the following letter for consideration of the
board
for transmittal to the City of Los Angeles:
ěThis is to inform the City that the Land Use and
Planning Committee of the GRVNC held an extensive public hearing on
September
7, 2004 on the above-referenced projects.
It appears that the developer may have conformed with the Venice
Community Plan, the Venice Specific Plan, and the Los Angeles Municipal
Code. Notwithstanding this, the
community is deeply concerned that the projects are not in compliance
with the
Venice Local Coastal Program because these projects do not comply with
Policy
1.E.2 which require that new development respect the scale and
character of the
community.î
