Laura Pfalz Announces The Release of Her Second Book Castle Of Death Author of Going Down Memory Lane, Laura Pfalz takes on the horror genre in her upcoming novel Castle of Death. It tells the story of a family of five who stops at a dark, mysterious castle one stormy night, only to find out that it is inhabited by monsters. Laura Pfalz breaks out of the mainstream in her second published release, Castle of Death, a horror novel which brings together well-known monsters in a classic horror setting. The story begins on a dark, stormy night with a family of five taking a road trip to Pennsylvania. They are lost in the blinding rain, and the only building around is a mysterious castle set off the beaten path. They decide to take shelter from the storm there for the night. The family is greeted by a strange man, who welcomes them into his home. Before long, they find out that the man is actually a vampire, and within the castle dwells other monsters, including a werewolf, a witch, two vampire brides, a mad scientist, and goblins, along with many other unpleasant surprises. The monsters are working on conjuring up a terrible beast in order to tip the balance of good and evil in their favor. Through many traps and obstacles, the family must find a way to escape the evil clutches of the monsters, before they become permanent residents at the Castle of Death. Laura Pfalz wrote the rough draft of Castle of Death eight years ago, because she couldn’t find stories of its kind to read, and the same holds true today. “Unfortunately, this is a dying genre,” says Pfalz. “We’ll always have horror and vampires and the like, but there’s something fun, exciting, and terrifying about taking all the well-known monsters and teaming them up. This was common in movies at one time, but not so much in books that I have seen.” Laura Pfalz hopes that this book will be appreciated by fans of genre: “Being a fan of this type of story whose setting is a creepy location with a group of monsters with little chance of escape, I attempted to write a novel that is unique but stays true to what we know of legendary monsters. I tried to think what book I would enjoy reading, and worked on it from there. I’m hoping monster fans won’t be disappointed, and will enjoy the‘clichéd/tongue-in-cheek’ moments as much as the horrifying ones.” Castle of Death is due out in Late Summer/Fall 2005 and will be available to buy or order at most major bookstores.
